Most people think of California that way, but it is a BIG state and has all 11 climate zones. It's just that there is a bigger population in the southern portion of the state with a lot more gardeners, so you hear more about their climates.
I live in the mountains in the northern part of the state in Trinity County. Actually, at my elevation, it's a lot warmer with less snow than if you go higher up the mountains.
I couldn't sleep much last night, so I ended up putting more wood on my night fire. I am thankful for a warm kitchen this morning.
