Well, OK... I like the humorous answers better than the boring answer.

A Hula Hoe is also called a scuffle hoe or stirrup hoe, and is a quick way to destroy small weeds. You can scrape the soil backwards or forward over the weeds.
That's why they call it a hula hoe- it's the back and forth motion..
The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that it has never tried to contact us.
