We had a cardinal do that. We called him Crazy Cardinal. The cardinal apparently thought it was another bird and became territorial, and would constantly fly against the window. But it was all day long....whack! If you hang anything on the window, try it on the outside, because inside does nothing. The only relief was one year it didn't return.
