I have both a spreadsheet and I use the ATP plant list. I also keep a notebook for each season that lists the blooms on each date and problems that may be noted. I mark that in code on the spreadsheet.
My maps are a little disorganized and messy but I do keep one. Most have metal plants markers but that can always be misplaced by critters and neighbor kids. I should use graph paper or something more spacial.
