I first learned about the Forsythe (Forsyth) Pot Method on a site called PlantSwap.net. The person who posted the information is named zuzu's petals (not the same person as our ATP zuzu). Here is a link to what she posted:

In truth...the method was invented by a man named Andrew Forsyth...spelled without the 'e'...and i'm in the process of writing an article about it.
