I was 6 when we moved from northern Illinois to extreme southern Louisiana. A nutria (coypu) got into the house via the pipe access and hid in the bathtub. I do not know who was more scared, the nutria of the 6 year old standing on the tank of the toilet screaming "A rat, a rat!"

My older sister told me they were magic and could shrink themselves to fit in the pipes and when you turned on the bath water they would come pouring out with their huge orange teeth....
