We got hit by a couple sleet storms earlier today, but I still worked all day. Built some new raised veggie garden beds for one of my regular landscape customers. Of course, the sleet held off till I picked up the loam to fill the bed with...6 yards of loam gets a LOT heavier when it's wet. Had to wheel barrow all of it in cause of the gardens location...but, such is life at work. Hope my customer and her daughter (6 yrs. old) have fun planting their garden together. They both seemed quite pleased with it. The way I designed it made use of a small hill in the yard along a fence that they otherwise could not use, so I put in tapered sides and built the front wall up to 20 inches using 5x5x8 white cedar posts. Now, the whole area is level (The 'hill' now buried) and ready to be put to use as a garden, no more wasted yard space, and getting to grow fresh food while creating memories with her little one...some parts of my job are quite rewarding. I love the instant gratification it can bring. It don't take me long to take a place that looks like crap and turn it into a yard that leaves the neighbors envious.
Next up for this customer?...She also wants a new herb garden put in around her back deck and $2500 worth of perennial bed plantings. BUT that stuff is penciled in for mid-May or so. Which is good...my current Spring clean-up list has 60 addresses on it... You know what they say...too much work coming into the company is a good problem to have.
