Minnesota and Alaska (Zone 3a)
I have spent the last week or so beating back the Tasmanian devil of crankiness that rises up out of my chest the second I open my eyes and see snow, sleet, freezing rain and listen to the wind howling and battering against my house like the big bad wolf is trying to blow it down. I think the penance required of Minnesota gardeners for our short fake out spring we had several weeks ago is just to heavy. Rolling my eyes.
Checked the progress of my scales and no sign yet of bulbil formations but to early yet. I did order a HydroFarm T5 setup with 4 bulbs and waiting for that to be shipped. Tried to bring in my shelf unit from the garage but it was stuck firmly into the ice from all the water that leaked into from a rapid thaw earlier and couldn't pull it out by myself. Maybe next week after it warms up a bit.
I have been wandering through my house looking at all my gardening stuff scattered around the kitchen, bags of soil, sand, perlite and vermiculite piled into the corners, stacks of one gallon pots on the counters cleaned, sanitized and waiting to be used. The clutter is a bit overwhelming so decided to tackle a huge project upstairs that I have procrastinated on for at least two years. It is a big area 14 x 16 that we extended out over the living room to create a loft room. I finally came up with a design plan to fit my various craft and hobby tools including all my indoor grow things. It is a pretty good plan too and can be done in stages as time and money allows. Later this afternoon I will be heading to the hardware store to get some supplies for building the first shelving units for my grow station area. Hurray!
