I grew "hak" grass in a container along with a hosta for a few years. While the hosta wasn't the happiest after a couple of years, the grass did fine. I did give it a little winter protection. If nothing else, it might be a good idea to repot it with some fresh soil and then you can assess whether it needs to be divided.
