Hazelnut,
According to the Union of Concerned Scientists, there are no reliable data to prove that GE (GMO) produced organisms present a health hazard to the general public at large - yet. There have been reports of some allergies being transferred to various plants but that is about it. They are continuing to research the data but at this time, there is no substantive proof. Now, as far as ecological and environmental issues, there is no doubt that the use of GMO plants will result in a higher use of herbecides which undoubtedly will be present in the plant and it's fruit. That was the reasoning for my reference to chemicals and why I am not concerned about GMO plants. I don't eat them because I produce my own organic plants and buy what I need to augment my lifestyle from farms who are certified organic.
Now, I am old enough to understand that I have ingested enough chemicals over my lifetime that what I have done in the last 10 years probably will not reverse the damage that has been done over my 6 decades of life. I just don't want to add to the effect. It may make me feel better, but some damage has been done for sure. Am I worried over it? Nope. Que sera sera. I trust in the Lord and turn my worries to Him.
I have much more important issues to address actually. Like getting my garden up and running at this point. Weather has been finicky for sure in my parts.
