well.. this is a sphere... although you plant in it ..rather than on it... a great Christmas gift as well.... and good through out the year... revisiting friends that have receved one for Chrismas they are all showing me how well they are stiill doing...
Ths is made from a large... maybe 6-8" chrstmas ball.. be sure to get the ones that aren't glass or the solid foam ones... these are plastic.. and usually find them @ one of the drugstore chains.. before christmas...
you cut a few holes on the top... I use a knife or insulated blade.. heated on the range top to glowing... [ a utility blade held by a pair of vice grips works well ] and make 3 or 4 largeish openings around the top from which it hangs.. here I made them the shape of the gltter pattern .... for planting/waterng don't forget a few smaller holes in the bottom for drainage...
