I love growing them in pots. I use to grow them in pots and put them in the garden and when they were done blooming I would put them on the side yard until the leaves died down. They multiplied quicker and I had more to plant in the ground. The lilies only last a couple years in the ground but they last and multiply in the pots. I just started planting them as part of my patio combo pots.
What I never tried was sedum in pots. This is turning out to be the best pot plant ever. Do not need to water the pots as much and they look good all summer.
With all these new color leaves they are developing I can stage the pots with lots of color.
