Hmmmm...I didn't think we had lightening bugs here in Florida! A friend and I were just talking about that a couple of days ago...no lightening bugs, and no chipmunks and no lilacs and no weeping willows!

For clarification...pool cages generally have screen around and over the pool, but a 'Florida Room', or 'lanai' as they are also called, usually has a 'real' roof. My mom had one that was entered through sliding glass doors from the living room or dining room, and had a low knee wall before being screened to the ceiling...it opened with a screen door to the pool and patio. Her pool was NOT 'caged' but she had a 6 ft privacy fence around the entire yard. In spring and fall we would often eat in the lanai...out of the sun and away from the flies and mosquitos.

To get back to the original question...has anyone figured out what kind of orchid that is? The bloom seems SO unique, (and very un-encyclia to me)...pseudobulbs, and the leaves are reminding me of a bulbo possibly? Anyone else?
