Steven, I never even thought about the possibility of it needing more shade, and I didn't realize it bloomed on new growth! I was only told it needed full sun to bloom. It's been happy and healthy except for the fact there have been no signs of any buds over the years. Thanks for the advice, I will try moving it to a shadier spot ... and next spring it's getting a good trim!
