dyzzypyxxy said:Not getting worked up, but I find the name National Gardening Association old fashioned and rather pompous as well as not inclusive of all our international gardening friends and wonderful contributors. I mean, would you "belong" to the gardening association of, say, Canada? Simply "Gardens.org" would appeal to me so much more. Just because it's been around for 40 years doesn't make it right.

Other national associations have found it more inclusive and also easier to simplify their names. I belong to what used to be the International Sailing Federation ISAF and they now call themselves simply "World Sailing". The United States Sailing Association is now US Sailing and the Canadian Yachting Association is now Sail Canada.

I really hope Trish and Dave will re-consider the decision to call the site by this name. It also sounds to me like an old people's club that you'd have to pay dues to join.

Well put Elaine!

Dave, the name may have been around for dinosaur years but as Elaine states, it does sound, well, as she put it. I think "exclusive" describes Elaine's last sentence. Exclusive in feel to the United States too, imagine a person from another country coming across this site and finding it's based in Texas, which makes sense as that's where you are, but it immediately says this is a site for the US only, International people not welcome.

I can't agree that "National" encompasses all countries, that would imply the word "International" has been designated to the dust bin.

I can see you have bought the site name, but is that going to be attractive to many?
