It was just a sharpie, which if exposed to sun fades quickly. But I do keep them mostly buried, both because I don't like seeing them and to preserve the writing. They do get brittle though, so this year I'll buy metal markers from the club. They sell them cheap, and I think they'll be easy to hide from view.

Barbara, I'm so glad "probably Red Canyon Sunset" is going to bloom! Its pretty unique, I've not run across another similar enough to make me doubt yet.
