I know Solaris Farms are working hard hybridizing for cold tolerance in tree peonies. It is an issue. More protected areas in colder climates are optimal. Since I love them so much, I have them all over around here. Some fair better than others, of course. Overall, as long as they have some winter mulch.,, they all do pretty well here in zone 5. It can get pretty cold here.
