This is the season of waiting in my part of the country. Waiting for the soils to dry, waiting for the wind to die down (can't burn but love the winds drying affect), waiting to spot first tips of plant growth coming up and waiting for the ceaseless round of yard and garden chores (joys!) to commence. I checked all the garden beds for ph levels because I guessed last year that they were beginning to get to low in some areas. I mixed in small amounts of lime into the beds I was worried about and sure enough the levels were all to low except in the areas I had added the lime last year. Put up some tacky temporary fencing around my lily beds since my old dog Brownie and two old cats decided the best spots to gather the spring sunshine was right on top of my emerging lilies. This time of year is a lot of walk about time, noticing where it looks like I need to add some composted manure, which shrubs need attention, reminding myself of different plants I need to start propagating for my daughter. Last night I fell asleep in the easy chair reading through my North Star Lily Society news letter. Leftwood are you the Rick that joined the NSLS Speakers Bureau?
