Interesting ... I have a Mac too but when I go to my profile page and under the very first item "Change your public profile" ... when I scroll to the bottom there's a place that says: Your Avatar Photo. The photo shown will be a giant Acorn for those who haven't uploaded a picture yet. To the right of the photo it says To change the photo, upload a new one below and I click on browse and can select a picture from my computer.
