I wandered the iris beds, looking for blooms, pregnancies, anything to start the excitement, but to no avail. All of these pics are making me rush the next month so I can see blooms. I am digging more spots for new iris this summer. Better to do the digging, dunging and delivering while it is cool. I found 7 large nursery pots ( at least 15 inches) and had my hubby cut off the bottoms. Then I pull back the river rock we have in the west side of the house, dig a hole big enough for the pot, place the pot in and make sure it is level with the pots I did last year (14 of them so adding a third pot to the groups of 2) mix the soil with manure and peat moss and fill up the pot. That way the iris sit above the rocks and do not drown when the lawn gets watered. Then when all blooming I will have 21 pots interspersed with the 4 permanent beds we put in when we moved here 8 years ago. Anxious for more beauty!! In the last three years I have added 47 spots for iris where there used to be rock. I keep saying I am too old for this, but every year I add more. Is that the iris virus working on these old bones?
