I don't think they'd have the same ability to survive bare-root in the open air that daylilies and iris do with their rhizomes, tuberous roots etc. but there's really only one way to find out and that's to plant them, or "park" them in a tub of damp potting mix to see if they revive. If you scratch at the stems are they still green underneath the surface?
