My 'sniffer' is not in tip top working order but can't say I have ever detected a fragrance on dahlias. And some claim a very pleasant fragrance from some peonies but I have never cared for it on mine and I LOVE peonies. I think Sweet William has the best fragrance, strong and very pleasant. Perhaps too sweet for some. It was one of my father's favorites. That could be the reason for the happy association. Hilarious!
