We moved my new tree peony. It was planted fall 2013, lived though not robust last year, and was sending pips all over this spring. But I wanted a trellis very close to where it was and the foundation would have impinged on the TP. My helper, Erick dug a huge hole which we amended with steer manure and bone meal. He got a nice root ball. Lots of main roots and a zillion tiny roots, feeders I believe. I am praying even if it doesn't bloom (which it probably wouldn't have under and circumstances this year) it will continue to grow and become healthier. I know this was not a good time to move it but had no choice. It will at least have all summer to recover. And I like the new spot much better. I had an azalea there but it didn't survive the winter.

Mary, I hope it will do well in the new spot. Shin Shichifukujin that's my mothers favorite, huge flowers, fast growing, and robust.
