Usually I cull those I can't find good companions for- if the colors don't harmonize with neighboring plants I try moving it around a few time. If that doesn't have the look I'm going for, it will go. Thornbird was a tough one for me, but I'm loving it now with some bronze foliage plants nearby- it really shows off those beards/horns!
