That occurred to me, as well... really, anyone could have pulled in and said they owned the place, right? (or, maybe I missed it... did you actually recognize him as being the owner?)
and I totally agree with Ken, that the realtor should be informed about what happened.
Frillylily, you didn't do anything wrong -- I think you handled the whole situation amazingly well; but I think it's going to continue to eat at you unless you get some kind of "closure" about what's really going on.
