Keep experimenting, please, and I'm sure you can find a balance between elegant and lively, between elegant and professional. I'm afraid I'm with those who are not fans of the current logo -- I like the font a lot, and the little flower and butterfly are nice additions, but it's not a "grabber." An additional graphic (like a tree) would be nice, something simple enough to be easily identified (like DG's vine is easy to spot).

Also, nobody has mentioned this, but it seems odd to me to have no green in the logo for a plant site... I'd much rather see the logo in green and the little tabs at the top of the page in the blue, maybe even use a violet-blue for the flower and the butterfly. Something about the current color palette gives it a generic off-the-shelf look... just too pale for such a vibrant community. I'd probably love the style and colors of the logo for a different type of site, but it doesn't seem to represent this one to me.

My 2 cents! Looking forward to seeing what happens next -- on all fronts -- wtih this site!
