Hi @Barrie Welcome.

My daughter lives in QLD and had the same problem when they bought their house. The back yard was full of Lilly Pilly and frangipani. They had to remove 3 of the largest frangipanis, but were able to cut back the other 4 to a manageable size. I do agree, if you can prune it back severely, then that would be my first suggestion; if not, then perhaps a couple nice branching cuttings.
