I chose a rather long layover, I was not sure how accurate the flight times were with China Airlines since it was my first time to use them, they initially were using only a 1.5 hr connection, and I was not comfortable with that, so I took a much later flight connection. I have been to Taipei airport before using Eva Air so I remember how pretty it was. I used to fly direct but direct fares are twice as expensive these days. I arrived in Taipei around 6am so it is quite nice to take photos, less people around:
