Josephine, I just used my thumbnail to pop them off. They're not attached that tightly, so you can remove them. I really only recommend that for spherical eggs because the other shapes tend to squish. It takes a delicate touch, but it can be done. For non-spherical eggs, I've been known to take a pair of scissors and just cut around the little section with the leaf on it.
