Daylilies do love fertilizer, much more than iris. And I know the florida growers have routines were the fertilize constantly. But they must water constantly also. For those of us just trying to grow garden flowers, if its too hot, lay off the high nitrogen. I like to use a liquid seaweed fertilizer for summer feeding. Very low nitrogen and full of trace elements. In fact I just did all my daylilies with the Neptunes Liqid Seaweed Fertilizer afew days ago. It really malkes for a great summer pick me up for the daylilies.. I use it on the roses too. I guess I could use it on my iris also.
