I've never had a climbing rose before, but I took the plunge and ordered a Zephirine Drouhin for a white, cedar-shingled, south-facing wall. I'm assuming I need some sort of trellis to get the rose up past the concrete foundation, but beyond that, I'm a little unsure. I was thinking I would put screw eyes into the cedar siding and run wires between them. I'd like to grow the rose around a window that's about 6' above ground level so it looks like this picture, but I'm just not quite sure what to do and exactly what kind/gauge of wire I should use. I'd rather not mis-drill the holes in the siding either, so I would love some advice before I do something I can't easily undo. Thanks for any advice!
