I have grown Jaboticaba for years. It is not a difficult plant to grow. It will take some frost and likes lots of water. The problem is, even under ideal conditions, it is a painfully slow grower. If you plant a small tree, you will have to wait 12 to 15 years for a decent crop of fruit. Once it starts to fruit, you can get two to three crops a year. My tree is now 17 years old and is about 10 feet tall. I fertilize it 4 times each year and water it often. I have had no fungus or insect problems. My tree has taken 28 degrees without any signs of damage.
