I checked out my community garden plot today after work. I was taking some cups with me to use as 'collars' around the broccoli transplants to protect them from cutworms. But guess what.....I was too late! ALL my broccoli transplants were GONE. The only thing left were 1/2" stubbies of the stems, no leaves, no nothing. Grumbling So I used the collars for the beet transplants (just in case) & went home to start more broccoli. And have poisonous thoughts of cutworm retaliation.
