@fiat -- here is something I recently learned - the bloom will actually last longer if you cut it. Also, after you cut it, turn the stem upside down and fill the hollow stem with tepid water. Put your finger over the bottom of the hollow stem, forming a plug, as you turn it back upright so the water does not run back out, and lower the stem into your vase of water. At night, you can put it in the fridge if you want, to make the bloom last even longer.
