The purple seedling is an accidental one that came where I had planted a black one some years ago. Back then I didn't know that irises couldn't revert back in color, but that's what I though it was at the time. The black was a potted iris I bought from a nursery, and there were a few rhizomes in the pot, so I really don't know if it's a seedling or if there was some other iris rhizome that got mixed in with the black one. But, since the black one died, and it was a few years later that this one showed up it's most likely a seed that germinated from the black one. It seems to be very hardy here, and has not ever rotted here. I haven't heard if it has been bothered by rot in other places. I have it in a couple of places in the gardens. I crossed it with Adriatic Waves and Art House and there are a few of them putting up bloom stems this spring. I'm hoping to add some of it's hardiness and get some ruffles and lines going. We'll see what we get. Smiling
Politicians are like diapers, they need to be changed often, and for the same reason.
