You can keep large outdoor plants indoors IF you are willing to do a little pruning. Right now, decide on a shape and get out the pruning shears. Cut it back to just above leaf nodes - it will re-branch at those nodes. Try to encourage upward growth. I would cut all those branches going sideways back to just one or two nodes. The one's going straight up are good but you can encporage some bushiness by just taking off the top two leaves. Next winter, re-pot and do a little root pruning. You should be able (with top pruning and root pruning) to keep your plant healthy and contained.
