I was one of the first 300 contributors to the plant database! Plant Identifier
definitely a crepe myrtle. They get really beautiful blooms later in the summer. I don't think there is a fragrance. Bees like them. Birds will nest in them. They are drought tolerant once established. They are not evergreen. They usually get a neat looking bark on them.
