I'd put them in the ground i'm not too far from you i just took a chain saw to mine over 12 ft and 4-5 inch stalks cut them down. They get old wood and straggly. They only bloom off new growth. You will love them for sure!! You always want to root back up to have nematodes of other problems you never loose it. Pots you work your self to death watering they are hogs.
