Oh well. Wrong again. It wasn't only the leaves, but the way they grow at the ends of branches that made me think of Rhaphiolepis . I 've never seen one that spindly either, but usually you see them in full sun. LOL! I had to go out and look at mine, but since it just got trimmed...
