We are having a beautiful long weekend here. It was supposed to rain today and we sure can use it. It's been a really dry spring and I've had to water several times. The rain we got today was in 3 sessions with thunder but lasted only a couple of minutes each. Here are some of today's blooms:

Thumb of 2016-05-23/linjarvis/3709fc
dwarf Bearded Iris - deep deep purple - in some light it appears burgundy
Thumb of 2016-05-23/linjarvis/8d7b46
deep purple French Lilac
Thumb of 2016-05-23/linjarvis/1a955b
dwarf yellow Bearded Iris

Gerbera Daisies and Pansies

I just have 4 Begonias to put in the Rock Garden and I have about 36 Balsam* that I grew myself and want to plant all around the outer edges of my boulevard Daylily Garden and any left overs, in the front bed and on the bed along the back of the house. They are very tender like Impatiens so I think I'll wait another week before planting.

(Touch Me Nots is an old common name for Balsam because when the seed pods are ripe, they burst when touched, like Impatiens ones do. They were a favourite of my parents so I like to plant them to remind me of them whenever I am gardening.)
