I do have some cannas that been in the ground there since 2010. As long as they are 10 or so inches or less from the foundation, most make it.

mostly the crocosima, elephant ears and calla lilies. I pull mine each year. I also have some tropicals, like plumeria and gingers that get over-wintered in the basement.
