Oh, thank you porkpal. These gardens have been a labor of love, with a lot of casualties along the way. It was somewhat frustrating at first until several years ago when I decided to "go native". Before then, it was too much of a temptation to look at seed catalogs and magazine layouts and think I could grow those plants here. Better sense has prevailed, but my "obituary list" is quite long. Hilarious! I still like to look at the English type gardens - but I no longer waste money on plants that would croak after ten minutes in our Texas sun.
And we have plenty of beautiful flowers that CAN survive here, so I'm content. Plus they're low-maintenance!
