I got a couple pieces of bark at the Sacramento Orchid Show and Sale last month and want to put a Phalaenopsis on one of them. I have been closely studying my other "mounted" orchids and have realized 2 things: There is a small (emphasize small) amount of sphagnum moss under/around the mounting spot AND most people use thin fishing line to attach the plant to the mount.

The two pieces of wood I got look like cork oak bark. I passed on the Cholla skeletons as the vender said they only last a couple years.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Daisy
