Holly here is what twit had to say about newly arrived semps.

twitcher said:Just to add that newly arrived semps should not be watered. They may have damage, hidden or otherwise, from the rough handling that occurs in shipping. Damaged areas are prone to initiate rot, so plant them, but do not water for a week or so. If indoors, do not water unless they are getting very, very bright light or you see signs of leaves drying up.

I have a semp I brought indoors in October that is sitting a couple of inches from 4' fluorescent lights (wasn't sure about its hardiness). It has never been watered since bringing in and is doing fine, but a bit etoliated.

Do you have snow right now? Maybe you can pot them up and cover with snow. I wouldn't water them though, as twit says below. Or you could just pot them and keep them in the garage for now.

Do you have anything to add to this twit?
