Hi Ann.

From what I see on-line, the shade fabric varies from Cotton muslin to canvas and actual use of old sails. The cost is determined mainly by size and what material you use. You might consider looking at painter's dropcloths that can be found most places that carry paint supplies.

Depending on the area and the amount of shade desired, you can use the green shade cloth used in greenhouses.
