The first time I heard one was at a plant nursery in NJ. They had peacocks in a penned in area at one end of the lot. My daughter and I heard them before seeing them and thought some human was in trouble but no one was rushing around to help so we followed the screaming and found four peacocks, two walking around their enclosure and two on the roof of their house. They weren't in great shape and two years later they were gone. Don't know what happened to them but we hoped they were surrendered to a no-kill rescue that was nearby.
