Jen, I don't have any gooseberries myself, so I'm not an expert, but I did a lot of research on gooseberries a year or so ago because I was considering getting some for my garden (before I realized that they, like grapes, are toxic to dogs). Anyway, to me, it *does* look unquestionably like a gooseberry. I'm glad others are confirming it for you, too, though, since I'm not an expert. (Gooseberries seem to be pretty unique-looking, so I doubt it has a poisonous/toxic cousin.)
