These are plants that like to grow in a clump, so it's possible you damaged the roots of the mama plant when you divided it. Did the babies survive?

If they did, I'd let mama go to her demise and nurture the baby plants into a nice lush clump. Don't divide them, they do better as a colony. Here's mine, probably 25 stems in that clump.
