You know. I had my drivers training at the police academy, but they always trained us if you go into a slide, put the car in neutral. My first thought if the gas pedal stuck would have been to put the car in neutral, then once you've stopped turn off the key to keep the engine from revving. I don't know why people aren't thinking of that. Of course they may not be trained to drive in icy conditions, so that's not a thought.

It's a horrible thing to have happened. I'm sure a lot of people that have Toyotas are scared out of their wits. And now some man that is in prison for running into the back of another car, and killing it's occupants back in the 90s is claiming that is what happened, so if that's true the problem may have been arond longer than first believed, and it's possible the older Toyotas are affected also.

So if anyone ever has their gas pedal stick, put that car in neutral. Don't turn off the key until you're almost completely to a stop or your steering lock might come on. Modern engines normally can't over rev, anyway.
