Chantell, I had poison ivy long time ago climbing my now dead dogwood tree that was a birthday present. I got rid of the poison ivy by cutting all those roots covered with fuzzy stuff about 7 inches from the ground, then spraying the cut part (both the top one AND the bottom one) with Brush-Be-Gone. I do not remember the brand of the herbicide, but look at the label and make sure that poison ivy is included. Be careful in handling the poison ivy. DO NOT burn them, the smoke is also poisonous. Put them in a big paper bag and put in trash. Wash all your clothing immediately. Wash also your garden shoes/clogs, and gloves. Then use Fels Naptha Bar Soap‎ (found in the laundry part of stores) when you shower, also wash your hair with it. Fels Naptha does not have cream nor oil in it, so it strips all the oil that sticks on your skin. Bath soaps have cream, so the oil of the poison ivy does not wash away. Reason I am telling all this is a friend of mine was cleaning the poison ivy in her garden and got so badly poisoned (she burned the poison ivy and the poison went into her lungs) she landed in the hospital for a week! By the way, the dogwood tree did not die because of the Brush-Be-Gone. It is another long story.

I just checked online and found that it was Ortho brand, it has to have Triclopyr. I bought "ready to use", a small bottle, enough to kill all the poison ivy that I had. Glyphosate (Round Up) will not kill poison ivy.
